We've
decided that each month we would give you a notion,
book and pattern that we think is a super buy!
Whether it is a good price or just a good value
for what it offers to you as a quilter, it has
stood out, in our estimation, to warrant mention.
So here are picks for this month!

Book
- Quilts in My Cubicle by Barbara Holtzman
$22.95
If you
go by the title of this new book, you might just
pass it over. But don't judge this book by its
cover even though it's very cute!). Quilts in
My Cubicle has 12 great projects that are small,
do-able and don't necessarily need to go in a
cubicle. There is some paper piecing, but none
of the projects are bigger than 14", so it
really won't take long for you to get it finished
and up on the wall. |

Pattern
- Bali Bags $9.00
There have been other patterns on the market that
have used the clothesline, wrapped it in fabric
and made bowls and bags. This new designer has
developed a pattern that doesn't leave raw edges,
and uses 2 ½" strips - so jelly rolls
work perfectly! We've made the bag, but the same
designer has a pattern for boxes and bowls also.
We've also found the cutest buttons to embellish
the handles and add just a bit of panache to the
bag! |

Notion
- Sewline Fabric Pencils $13.00
Now don't panic at the price of this marking pencil
- it's refillable. We liked these pencils because
they mark a nice, fine line on your fabric, have
many options of lead colors and wash out with
water. I will admit that the first time I used
them, I spritzed my piece and expected the marks
to magically disappear (even though the directions
say to dab with a damp cloth). After I brushed
the lines with the damp cloth, they still didn't
disappear - but after it dried the lines were
in fact gone! Panic at first, but the end result
is fabulous. The pencil has refills in green,
yellow, white, grey and pink. The pencil also
comes with a fabric eraser if you want to change
lines while marking |

Book
- My Autumn by Disa Designs
We came
across this book a couple of weeks ago and when it
came in, we were struck with how many projects it
had. They are small, quick projects which seem to
appeal this time of the year - anything from small
wall quilts to runners. There's one wall quilt that
is just screaming to be made into a valance. Who knows,
maybe we'll have them hanging in the shop before too
long. Book cost - $16.

Pattern
- It's Fast, It's Easy Tablerunner
This pattern
has moved in the top position of "I can make
oodles of these for gifts in zip-quick time."
This is the perfect pattern for 2008 gift giving!
You only need 3 fabrics and you can get a top done
in less than 1/2 hour!!! It is very versatile - just
pick a theme fabric, and go from there! Pattern cost
- $9.00.
